Fairy Princess Ribbon Crowns

I spent most of the day today looking for the ingredients to make these Fairy Princess Crowns.

I was pretty frustrated after looking at Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Jo-Anns.

And then I called my Mom....she knows everything...she solved my problem....she's my HERO!

(With Mother's Day coming up, I totally wanted to say that I have the best mother in the world!)

So thanks to her, I have the ingredients and have made my Fairy Princess Crowns and can share them with you.

I just wish I had a little girl to model them for you.  The "Drama Queen" had a bad day at school today and isn't in the mood to model for me...so instead you get my Wall Shot.

To make these SUPER SIMPLE crowns, you need:

Wire Garland

(which I can now tell that you can purchase at Dollar Tree)

Colored Curly Ribbon

Scissors

(I used my 6 year old "Mini Me's" head as a guide on the size, so depending upon your age group, adjust your crown size.)

I cut the Wire Garland into 2 foot long sections.

I took the ends and twisted them together, and then twisted them to the side of the crown, so the garland was in a complete circle.

I cut my curling ribbon into 15 lengths of ribbon about a double arm's length wide.  (Real accurate, I know.)

I cut 7 of each of the colors.  You could do more or less depending upon how full your want your ribbon.

Now take 5 strands of the ribbon and tie it in a knot at the back of the crown.

Repeat that for all 15 of the ribbon strings.

Now cut off the excess of ribbon close to the knot.

Our crown ended up being a little large for Mini Me's head still, so I simply twisted up the back where the ribbon is and it fits just fine now.

On one of these crowns I curled the ribbon by taking my scissors and running it along the edge of the ribbon to make it "extra curly."  The other one I just left alone.  I'm not sure which I like better.

On a side note, I was thinking as I did these, that they would be great for a Rapunzel party as the ribbon looks alot like curly hair.  Just an extra thought for the use and re-use project bin.
