Splish Splash Birthday Shopping

I am very sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I had every intention of posting a few quick party posts while on the road, but ended up camping for a week in NO-MAN's land..or at least no-cell-phone-use land.  It was truly an experience in living without the modern things in life...definitely something I needed, but was not used to or expected.  We did get to swing by a few special places on the way home, but those days were busy and full.
And although I said I would be "gone" until next week, we came home a little early and "Mini Me's" 7th birthday is next week.  When I asked him about his birthday party, he had some GRAND plans.   So instead of waiting until next week, I NEED to get started now.
So here are a few Etsy finds to help get the party started.

Summer Vacation Shindig: I Stink---Garbage Party

Here's another Awesome party while we are Vacationing away with the family.

Southern Belle's Charm shared this cool birthday party for a fun little boy.  The party is based on a book called I Stink! by Kate and Jim McMullan that the birthday boy fell in love with.

The invitations were actually "I Stink" books with a sticker inside with the details of the party.  How stinkin' clever is that?

I just can't get over how cute the decorations on this party where.  This wreath is just amazing! I love the little flies and trash all over the wreath.  It really gets the guests in the mood for the party.

Even the food had trash and flies all over them! These candy cones are just so adorable and the use of boxes, crates, and recyclables for the food containers is so fun.

And check out these fun Fly Cake Pops..

I would LOVE to know where she found these trash can cups.  They go perfect with the party!

Even the games were trash centered as the kids learned a fun lesson on recycling.

Southern Belle's Charm did an Awesome job on this fun birthday party!

Summer Vacation Shindig: Fairytale 1st Birthday

While I'm taking time off to share Summer Vacation with my hubby and kids, I wanted to share some AMAZING parties that I have seen through blog land.  I'm starting with this awesome first birthday thrown by EnJoying My Journey for her daughter's First Birthday party.

One of the things I love most about this party is how Original it is.  I've seen a few first birthday parties and I think they are really one of the funnest parties you can throw.  And Missy did a great job with coming up with a fun, original idea for hers.  She took lots of books and styled her party around the Once Upon A Time theme.  So cool!

She started with some fun invitations based on her book theme and the colors pink and turquoise.

She had books throughout the party as decorations, including these lovely pennant banner made from a damaged Bambi book.

Even the food was based on books (and we know how much I love when hostesses are clever that way!)

Everything from the drinks...

to the treats...

She even tied her party favors into the book theme by giving each family a board book to take home and this sweet Happily Ever After hugs and kisses favor.

Check out Missy's blog EnJoying My Journey for all the fun details of this AWESOME party.

Shout Out Sunday

Here are a few of my favorite party ideas from around the web this week...

Mommas Kinda Crafty shared her tutorial on how to make this Drive In Movie Car.  What a fun idea this is!  I know my in-laws host movies outside on the lawn at their house all the time.  What fun it would be to make these cars for the little ones before hand.  It would be a great activity to do while waiting for the movie to get set up and begin.  The details on the car are so cute!  Especially the licence plate...so fun!

The Inspired Housewife shared how to make a Super Slip and Slide.  I know we are planning a big, wet birthday party for next month and this would be perfect for one of the water activities.  It sure looks like the kids are having a great time!  I love how, unlike a traditional slip and slide, there is room for all the kids to play at once.  No more fighting over turns...they can all play together. LOVE it!

SevenThirtyThree shared how to make these cute Monster Photo Ops.  I think they are so fun looking with the kids poking out of the Monster's mouths.  This would be a simple way to add a lot of fun to your next monster party...or change it up and add it to any theme.  What I like the most is the great attention to detail.  She didn't just leave the mouth open for the kids to pop out of...she placed a black piece of fabric so you couldn't see behind and it really looks like the kids are popping out!  That's detail.

Tales of a Trophy Wife shared this awesome Mario Cupcake Cake.  I'm a huge fan of cupcakes, especially at parties, since it's so much easier to serve and eat these on the go than a regular cake...but I really don't like Cupcake Cakes.  Especially when the decoraters combine them together with frosting and decorations.  Yuck.  But this cake is pretty awesome.  I imagine it took some planning to be able to frost them right and lay them correctly, but it's SO worth it.  This cupcake Mario is AWESOME!

Jenerally Speaking shared how to make your own Pinata.  After having done a few parties in the last little bit, I've learned that our little town has no stores that carry pinatas.  And while I HATE them personally, the kids LOVE to have these candy treats at their parties.  It's so helpful to have the DIY instructions on how to make your own...and not just a pinata that's round, but different shaped ones for your party theme.  And it's alot cheaper!  I'll definitely put this idea on my Pinterest party board for Lots of future use.

Emilee of Sweetly Made

Congratulations!
Our Blog of the Week this week is
Cooking with K who shared her Strawberry Shortcake Cookies with us.  I LOVE strawberry shortcake, and am anxious to try it in cookie form.  I've decided that for our Cookie Fridays, we are going to try a new cookie recipe at least once a month.  That will give me kids a chance to try new things in a form that they might like.  If they can try it with a cookie (what kid won't at least try a new type of cookie?), then maybe I can get them to try it with food too.  This will let me be able to try new meals at dinner without the "EEEWWWW" factor I usually get and allow them to learn to try new foods for when they get older and go on their missions.  It's a Win-Win.

I'm anxious for them to start trying new food because I can't wait to try out K's Grilled Asian Style Marinated Chicken.  My kids LOVE chicken in just about anyway I make it, so I'm thinking they will love this.  Plus, it will give my hubby a reason to fire up the grill.  Can't wait!  And her cute Bunny Buns look like so much fun to eat AND make.  I may not even wait until next Easter to make them...they are just too cute.  K has so many yummy looking recipes, you need to go spice up your kitchen by checking out her blog today!

Let's get our Linky party started with our party favor of the week is our
These name plaques are the perfect hostess gift for any party.  Add your friend's name to any of our kitchen themed plaques for a personal, fun, but inexpensive gift.  Kitchen name plaques come in our Sunflower plaque, Cookies & Hugs plaque, Cherry theme plaques, and more!  Plus we have LOTS of other plaques that usually ship out the very next day for a quick, personal touch at your next party.

Now, let's party!
Show us your newest party or fun creations by sharing your favorite party themed craft, table scape, photo, favor, or whatever! I'm pretty flexible since just about everything can be used at a party...that's the great thing about us moms! We can see the potential in ANYTHING!

Linky Party Guidelines:
* Link up to your OWN project post, not just your blog, but your actual post. (We want to see it!)
*Grab a Shindig Saturday button for your post or blog page. (Hey, it benefits us all!)
*Stay and enjoy the party by visiting and commenting on other's projects. (It's fun to mix and mingle!)
